Our company can complete your project from start to finish. We carry a variety of environmentally friendly/green products, including reclaimed antique flooring and water based finishes. The sizes of the solid or engineered unfinished wood can be manufactured from 3 to 12 inches in width and lengths of 4 feet and up. We also offer special features that can be applied to the wood, such as hand scrape, circle or skip sawn, distressing, fumed, wire brush, round or square pegs, French bleed, dings and worm holes (http://www.kalleyflooring.com/textured.html). The wood can then be custom stained to your desired color; afterwards it can be finished with a UV finish, a ceramic finish or a urethane finish (http://1800hardwood.net/finishes/finishes.html).
Unfinished Hardwood, as you may already understand, must be nailed directly into a wood sub floor, such as plywood or 2″x6″ lumber over joists. Nowadays, many homes lie over a cement slab. In order to install a solid hardwood floor on a cement slab, it is necessary to seal the slab and install a plywood sub floor onto the slab (by hammering nails through the wood into the cement). Not only is this expensive and time consuming, but also adds to the thickness of the floor, raising it 1/2″ or 3/4″ higher than the rest of the house, not even counting the thickness of the hardwood which will be installed shortly thereafter.
