Janka Hardness:
1912 (what’s this?)
Country of Origin: Agentina, Paraguay, Brazil
About Amendoim:
Like Brazilian Cherry and other exotics, Amendoim is very strong, showing top ratings on the Janka hardness scale – 1912, which is above maple and red oak (1260), and equivalent to Santos Mahogany. Brazilian Walnut is considered the strongest at 3680.
With its lustrous appearance, Amendoim flooring has a rich, deep collection of reddish-brown and tan hues that draw the eye in and keep it there. Amendoim wood’s yellow-brown tones combine with the wood’s luster and wavy grain to create its inherent visual warmth. Amendoim flooring has more swirl and ring patterns than seen with Brazilian Cherry, but much like its sister species, its soft brush strokes look as though they were painted on with watercolor. An Amendoim floor would be perfectly suited for tan or beige furniture sets.
Color Change: Amendoim exhibits a medium degree of color change as this wood will mute and become a more uniform, darker tan-brown with reddish highlights over time.
